Insomnia Coffee Company launched its 1st outlet in Cork at Meadows & Byrne on Academy Street. Ireland’s largest independent chains of coffee shops arrives in Cork as part of a successful expansion of the company which saw them sell 2.5 million cups of coffee last year.
The new outlet furthers the relationship with Meadows & Byrne, who already play host to Insomnia in Dun Laoghaire. Frida Hayes, MD of Blarney Woollen Mills and Bobby Kerr, CEO of Insomnia were both in attendance for the launch.
The Cork outlet is Insomnia’s 21st and follows last week’s launch of their Nassau Street store in Dublin. Insomnia plan to promote their nationwide expansion with a €200,000 marketing and PR campaign, to include local radio and bus shelter advertising.
With lattes proving to be Insomnia’s most popular beverage last year, the company will be promoting Latte Art in their stores. Latte Art involves designs (such as hearts and swirls) ingeniously drawn in the milk foam. Staff have had to be specially trained in Latte Art as all designs are free-poured and done in seconds. The designs are possible because of the natural tendency of the thick milk and espresso to flow in waves.
