Getting to know your local Nassau Street manager Mary

Tell us a bit about yourself:

When I started working for a coffee shop, I didn’t know anything about coffee. I went to the Insomnia coffee school for training to learn and improve my skills. My fellow Insomnia colleagues were very helpful and friendly. They taught me many useful tips. I became a supervisor in 2005 and after getting more experience in managing a coffee shop I started as a manager in 2008 at Insomnia Nassau St.

What do you like best about working at Insomnia:

I love working with my staff, they are hard working, dedicated and fun to be around. They provide a welcoming atmosphere for customers to come in, relax and enjoy great coffee. Also the Insomnia Head Quarters office has a great group of people too. I like working with them, because they are easily accessible when I have problems in the store or queries from customers. I also like the variety of  Insomnia's products and promotions.

How many staff members do you manage:

I manage 4 full time and 3 part-time baristas. They are a great group of people to work with. They are very nice and friendly. All went to the Insomnia coffee school for an extensive training to be a barista to make sure customers get the best cup of coffee every time. My staff and I want to ensure that customers are enjoying their experience at our Insomnia store and leaving with a smile on their face. Welcome in!

What’s most interesting about your location:

I would say the most interesting thing is that, since it’s summer, we have been getting lots of tourists from all over. We are located beside Trinity College and around the corner from Grafton Street. Once University starts our shop will be filled with students stopping by to unwind or study.
